Our village is situated in the Balaton Highlands Natural Park, in the historical Badacsony wine district.
A map further down the page shows the exact setting.

Driving directions

If arriving by car from the direction of Wien, Graz or Zagreb, you will be using road 84 either from the direction of Sopron or Keszthely and then changing to road 71 at Balatonederics. After some 7 kms and a very long gentle right curve, you reach the junction (to the left) of Badacsonytördemic. You cross the railway line and go to the end of the cobblestoned street then turn right and immediately right again. This is Zöldfa street shown on the map below which is a one way street from east to west, therefore the short detour. You will find the NOHAB Apartment marked on your right shortly after the post office.

Arriving from Budapest on motorway via Keszthely is the same as above and if you use road 71 along the northern shores of Lake Balaton, you have to pass Badacsony and the railway stop of Badacsonylábdihegy (on your right) before reaching the junction for Badacsonytördemic, again on your right. Once crossed over the railway track, the process is the same as set out above.

Driving from Bratislava via Gyõr or from Budapest via Veszprém, you will arrive from the direction of Tapolca. You need to exit the town near Tesco's towards Gyulakeszi and follow the road to Nemesgulács. Past this village, there is a Y-shaped junction and you must keep to the right. After crossing an unfinished road in an S-curve, you arrive to the cobble-stoned main street of our village. Past the church will be the junction towards road 71 but instead of turning here, head straight on for another 60 meters or so and turn right into Zöldfa utca, which is the one way street of the post office as described above.

Our house number is from the other entrance but the driveway is from Zöldfa utca, which translates into Green Tree Street. You can safely park your car in our garden under the vine trellis, erected only recently.

Taking the train or the bus

If you arrive by bus or by train, please let us know your arrival time and we will meet you at the station or the bus stop as all these are just a very short walk from our house (3-5 minutes, depending on the stop). There are several railway services a day including a direct fast train from Budapest. The summer timetable always offers many more services than the trains that are available in wintertime. The name of our railway station is Badacsonytördemic-Szigliget. A morning and an evening bus service are also available to and from Budapest. In the other direction, these connect our village via Keszthely to Hévíz. Local bus services allow you to visit Szigliget and Szent György-hegy (Saint Geroge Hill) while we recommend the train to Tapolca, Badacsony or further east.

From the airport

If you arrive by plane, you will need to take a train or hire a car from Budapest or any other airport in the vicinity (Vienna, Graz, Bratislava or Zagreb). We offer a pick-up service from Fly Balaton Airport (SOB) if we are notified in advance and have free capacity. Please ask us for a quote. If you decide to rent a car at Fly Balaton Airport, you need to turn left outside the airport and in the center of Sármellék turn left again. Before the road curves to the left, you need to continue in the street to the right and a few kms after the village turn right at the junction again. From there on just follow the main road to Keszthely and use the driving directions via roads 84 and 71 as set out above.
